Here are some relatively short book reviews for you – hopefully I’ll start getting these out more often! Since a majority of what I read is romance, I’d recommend you check recommended ages and trigger warnings before picking up a book.

Bears in Mind by Sam Hall (Ursa Shifters Book 1) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed reading this book, but I’m not sure how I feel about it being part one of two(?) of a complete story. So no HEA or HFN. Part of me is upset because I was really invested in the characters, but the other part of me is glad I get to see the characters for an entire other book. This book is a reverse harem romance with four male bear shifters and one female main character, who is getting out of a not-so-great marriage. It’s sort of like We Bare Bears if the bears were instead really hot guys who are all trying to get their girl to fall in love with them.
The Alien’s Ransom by Ella Maven (Drixonian Warrior Book 1) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is one (of many, many) alien romance books I’ve read in the past two years. It follows pretty much the same formula – woman is abducted, then is rescued (by a sexy male alien, of course) once she’s on a foreign planet. I did enjoy this one and I plan on reading the next one in the series, but I accidentally read a book in a spinoff series before I read this one so I sort of already knew what would happen.
Accidental Score by Kristen Echo ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a quick one-hour insta-love romance. I enjoyed it because it’s exactly what I wanted to read, but since it is so short there isn’t as much as far as character development goes. Male main character is a hockey player, hence the hockey theme.
The Alien’s Sacrifice by Ella Maven (Outcasts of Corin Book 1) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Although this is the first in a series, it is a spinoff series from the Drixonian Warriors, which I picked up on soley due to the large amount of information that was being thrown my way. Overall it enjoyed it, but I wish I had known to start with The Alien’s Ransom. This is another alien romance where there is a group of girls doing their best to survive on a foreign planet. And then they’re kidnapped. Enter alien hero.
Rescued from the Depths by Ella Maven ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a quick read, a novella, and my first introduction to Ella Maven and her world. This one definitely stands on its own better than The Alien’s Sacrifice since it doesn’t reference any known characters or world developments. In this book the male love interest is an alien, but with characteristics somewhat like a merman, which was interesting.
What have you been reading lately? I’d love to hear about it!
