Fall Drinks to Enjoy with a Good Book

What better way to enjoy fall/autumn than to curl up with a yummy drink and a good book? Or, since it’s still in the 90s where I live, a fall-themed iced drink and a good book? Here are ten of my favorite drinks that remind me of fall.

  1. Pumpkin Spice Latte
A pretty obvious classic. I’ve been getting this is frappuchino form – the taste of fall but the coolness needed for relief from the outdoors.
  2. Caramel Apple Spice
I think this only exists at Starbucks. It’s like a hot apple cider with caramel added. If you don’t like caffeine (or don’t want to give your kids caffeine) this is a popular choice.
  3. Apple Cider
The best apple cider I’ve ever had can be bought at a random roadside stand along Oak Creek in Arizona. But if you can’t get to that, many grocery stores will start selling more commercial brands that area also quite yummy. I prefer them cold, but I’m sure either one is delicious.
  4. Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
I used to really like this one, but I’ve moved away from it over the years. It’s like a hot chocolate, but with an edge. It’s very rich though, so be warned!
  5. White Mocha
This is really a year-round favorite (I like super sugar drinks, especially if they have caffeine), but if I had to assign it a season, I’d assign it fall.
  6. Chai Tea Latte
The cinnamon/ginger/clove/cardamom flavor reminds me very much of fall. I prefer this drink hot and with milk, but I know friends who like iced chai or chai with a shot of espresso.
  7. Mexican Hot Chocolate
To my knowledge, this is just hot chocolate with cinnamon. Anything with cinnamon very much reminds me of fall. This particular one also reminds me of Dia de los Muertos, which occurs in the fall.
  8. Caramel Mocha
This is probably my favorite drink at McDonalds. It’s super rich and crazy sweet, so make sure you’re prepared for that! It still has a coffee taste, but with enough caramel and chocolate that it goes down smooth. This reminds me of different fall road trips I’ve taken.
  9. Salted Caramel White Mocha
If salted caramel is in season, try this drink! It’s amazing! It’s another super sweet drink though, so if that’s not your thing, you probably won’t like this one. I like it because there are so many flavors involved in it that your tongue does a little happy dance trying to process it all.
  10. Root Beer
This has enough of a spice-based flavor that it also reminds me of fall.

What’s your favorite fall/autumn themed drink? (Or, if your part of the world is experiencing spring, what drink are you enjoying right now?) I love reading a good book with a great drink on hand.
